On Android devices, our clock in screens should work with all browsers and "kiosk" apps such as SureFox Pro. These lock down the device and prevent anyone using it for unintended purposes.
On iOS, Apple has so far prevented access to the device's webcam directly. If you are looking to use the web cam option and capture images of staff as they clock in, you will need to use the Safari browser. No other browsers or apps will be allowed to access the webcam.
You can provide a similar experience to a kiosk app on the iOS device by limiting website access and using Guided Access.
Start by turning on Restrictions. Go to Settings > Screen Time. Under Web Content choose Allowed Websites Only. For each of the pre-set sites (such as Apple - Start), swipe left to delete. Then click
Add Website to add the Clock In screen, i.e. https://example.staffsavvy.com/clockin.
When this is done you go to Settings > General > Accessibility. Choose Guided Access. Turn on Guided Access and create a passcode.
You should also turn off the tab bar in Safari. Go to Settings > Safari. Make sure Show Favourites Bar and Show Tab bar are both off.
Now go to Safari. Open your clock in screen URL. Once the screen has loaded, you will be asked to enter your login details to verify the screen. When complete, push the home button 3 times quickly to start Guided Access. This will prevent anyone using the iPad for anything other than the clock in screen without the passcode.
