Training programs are an optional feature within the training structure that allow you to group training certificates together (however, certificates can be run completely independently from programs).
The benefit of a training program is that it grants staff members assigned to the program access to all of the Certificates within it and can group them together, and you can award a physical certificate once they have completed all of them. This might be helpful if you are wanting to build a lot of certificates and they fall into quite separate categories and jurisdictions.
This can be managed under Training > Manage Training Plan > Manage Program. Then you can create or edit a Program from this page. From this page you can set up the program details, including the title and a bit of information of the overall program and what staff should aim to learn by the end of it.
Each program can have its own expiry date which will apply directly to the program. The options here include having the program never expire, having it expire after a certain amount of time or having it expire if any of the certificates within the program expire.
You can also set it up so that once you have completed one program it can trigger a staff member being assigned to the next program.
Phases
The stages within a training program can also be divided into different phases if you would like to create more of a visual structure; however, a staff member can complete any of the stages at any time to complete the program. This is configured under Training > Manage Training Plan > Manage Programme > Manage Certificates.
Assigning a Program
Once you have created a program you will want to assign staff to it. Programs can be assigned in bulk as part of set up or skill requirements.
One of the ways you are able to do this as part of a Step List. By going to System > Staff Data & Processes > Manage Step lists. Then, either go into an existing step list or create a new step list. Once your details are set up you can add a step, and one of the steps is to complete a program
Alternatively you can add a program as a Skill requirement via Staff > Staff Settings > Staff Skills. You can also specify whether the program is a compulsory requirement or can be added as an option.
